I wonder how long it'll take for any message to reach its recipient from here. Auris wondered as he walked up to the port, holding the librarian's letter firmly in one of his hands. Just this morning, he'd had some spare time on his hands, which he had again happily chosen to spend in the library. He had frequented the place ever since he had first found it, making lots of progress on a few informative books. Just now he had even been able to actually finish one of the thinner ones. As a result, he was met with that sweet feeling of productivity, of progress, which lifted his mood even more. Differently than usual, however, Camille had approached the trainee after a while, with a single request he was gladly willing to accept: dropping off a letter at the mailbox. Without so much as a second thought, he had agreed and gone his way. Not only did this give him a chance to help someone; it also was an opportunity for him to check whether he had any replies to his own latest letter yet. It hasn't been too long, but who knows? His companion was a hard worker and usually replied directly, for as far as he knew. However, perchance the letter Auris had written to him hadn't even been delivered yet. It was all possible.
Reaching the mailbox, the recruit checked the front and back of the letter out of habit, as if to reconfirm it was adressed correctly. Then just when he was about to post it, he turned the letter back around -- only to have it meet a gust of wind that suddenly blew the paper away from between his fingers, towards the sea.
..Huh? Hey!
Quickly lunging forward over the balustrade, he made a reach for the letter in an attempt to catch it. He was able to touch it with two fingers, but it remained out of his grasp as it flew away further, inevitably heading towards the water. Oh, no.. Oh no no no! I can't let it-- In the heat of the moment, he set foot on the railing and lifted himself to the other side, carefully standing on the thin edge of the platform as he held on with one hand and leaned forward to catch the letter with the other. Finally, much to the trainees relief, he was able to just in time get ahold of the item before it would continue to fall to its impending doom.
.. Got it. Were the first and only words to sound in his mind. Phew.
He sighed, feeling the tension fall off his shoulders. He hadn't messed up.. the letter was perfectly safe now. Next time however, he noted to himself, be more careful with the wind around here. It's a port: this won't be the last time you face it. Carefully pulling himself back, he moved his feet in preparation to climb back over the balustrade.
As soon as he tried, however, the trainee was met with a rush of adrenaline when he accidentally misstepped; his shoes losing grip on the edge of the platform at once. "Oh wh-- Ah!" Startled, he struggled to regain it -- which only served for him to hit one of his knees -- before he slipped further, fell, and suddenly found no more but the sea a few meters below him, his entire body hanging on to the one single hand that was still clasped around one of the railing's bars.
...?!!
Unable to say or do anything, he was struck with nervosity and perhaps even fear of the threatening blue waves beneath him. Don't look down! Don't.. The recruit had no idea how deep the water was at this point, but he was pretty certain those railings weren't there for no reason. He swallowed, trying to get his thoughts straight. He had to get back up. Quickly. "G-guys? Anyone?!" He exclaimed. Taking a deep breath, the trainee listened closely for any replies, sincerely hoping he wasn't alone out there.

He let go of Rianne's cloak at her signal. Once Loki's other hand is free he grabbed Auris' hand and now he is currently using both hands to pull Auris up. Using all of his strength and with the help of a little bit of adrenaline rush, he easily pulled the young man to the other side of the railings, the safe side.
Once he knows that Auris is safe, he looked over where Rianne jumped. Seeing her waving her arms to signal that she is okay for now gave Loki a sense of relief. But he can't relax yet since he needs to save his student. Now that he sees small ledge that Rianne landed was narrow and the tide is getting higher.
"Okay Rianne, just stay calm." He said to the girl below. "I need to find a rope for you to climb up before the tide reaches you."
After reassuring Rianne, he stepped back from the railings and started to look around for a long rope. Since they're in the port there is bound to be some rope laying around.

Auris didn't dare to look back. He didn't want to see whether Rianne had made the jump or not; for he feared the latter and refused to check, childishly believing that it would not be true as long as he did not confirm it. Instead, he did all he could to focus on his own situation -- on holding on, and calming his chaotic thoughts in an attempt to get things back together. It was only when he noticed Loki preparing to pull him up that the trainee decided to stop sparing himself, and to check out on reality.
And there she was; not slammed against any of the rocks, nor flowing amidst the savage waves. None of these fears had come true. Instead, Rianne had landed on the ledge: whether the jump had hurt her or not, Auris couldn't tell in the brief moment he looked down, but she was safe at the very least. A wave of relief washed over him, knowing she had made it, and that perhaps the both of them could now make it out without too much damage. That the both of them could perhaps make it out at all in the first place. For a small moment, he even felt like smiling, had not his persisting share of fear held him back.
Not a moment later, he felt himself being pulled up. Finally grasping some courage again, he looked up at Loki while the other helped him up: and as soon as the balustrade even got in his reach, he did all he could to quickly climb over it with the help of the advisor, finally and at long last making it to the other side safely. As soon as he was there, the trainee gratefully allowed himself to drop down to the ground on hands and knees. Taking in a deep breath, he closed his eyes and felt the high tension falling off him. Never before had he been so happy to have solid ground underneath himself. To have something to stand on, to walk on, something stable and secure. He wanted to thank the advisor, wanted to thank him with all the words he could find, but at this point he could not yet get any words out altogether. And perhaps that was only for the better: after all, there was another trainee down there who still had to be helped up, too. As relieved as he was, it wouldn't feel right until Rianne would be safe and sound as well. Something he hoped would soon be the case.

Calm...? I am calm... now... Rianne wanted to rebuke her mentor's words, she was calm, but she's feeling sore and a bit exhausted. Her heart had finally stopped racing from the adrenaline rush she had experienced moments ago but she could still feel some adrenaline in her veins.
This is nothing that medicine couldn't fix... Just need to get up in a safer position... Rianne mused feeling her legs wanting to fall asleep, as they had been left hanging, and the limited blood flowing to them due to her position. With her current strength, she pushed herself up again higher this time, lifting her body and twisting a bit, so she can be in a sitting position. Her lower legs was still dangling off the ledge but it was fine, she was in a much safer position than earlier.
Facing the horizon and seeing her pieces of her cloak drift away to the open ocean gave her a tinge of sadness and guilt. Realizing the contents of her cloak made her flustered, madly patting her neck and upper chest for her crystal pendant[1]. Feeling the crystal was still there, she held it firmly in her left hand.
"Phew it's safe." Rianne sighed in relief. "I'm sorry Mr. Sea, but I can't give this to you, unlike my cloak." She remembered the time her cousin gave it to her. Even though she stopped crafting altogether, Vladimir was too willful and gave her the crystal, reluctantly she had kept it. It was her small reminder that's she was a Cruciane. "Nova[2] will be so pissed if I lost this more than that cloak..."
I still don't understand what he's thinking... but then again even Dany and Mustachio[3]... Rianne sighed. Trying to forget her pang of longing, Rianne looked up to the railings, seeing no more Loki and Auris and shouted, "Hey! Mr. Auris! Are you alright up there?!" trying to be heard among the noises of the crashing waves and howling winds. Completely forgetting her current situation and apparel predicament. 'Hachoo!'
Note: [1] Crystal pendant - just a normal looking crystal pendant. But to the trained eyes of the Crucianes, they know what the crystal is made of. [2] Nova - The pet name she calls the Head of the House of Cruciane, Vladimir Cruciane. [3] Mustachio - Ever since the Head of the House of Fredeliz, Leandro Fredeliz, grew a mustache, Rianne gave him that pet name.

Now that Auris is safely up on the correct side of the railings. Loki want to the Post in search for some rope. He was lucky to find a long one lying on the side of the building. He quickly grab it and dashed back to the railings. He looked for Rianne and sighed in relief that she is still safe for now.
"Rianne, I found a rope." He called to her.
"I hope this thing is sturdy." He said to himself and evaluate the state of the rope. It look sturdy enough. "Heads up Rianne." He called out and threw the rope to her position on the cliff side. He tied the rope around the railings securely. Loki waited for Rianne to climb up so he can pull her up to safety.

Rianne was a bit by surprise that it wasn't Auris who responded to her. But still she was grateful, Loki had dropped the other end of the rope he had tied to the railings. She quickly tucked the crystal of her pendant between her chest. And grabbed the rope with both hands. She tugged it strongly testing how strong the rope was. Seems this is way better than my cloak...
Quickly making a small noose using the rope, she held it tightly before turning her body every so slightly careful not to fully fall off the ledge. Now Rianne was facing the cliff that makes up the bottom of the seawall. Rianne pulled herself up the ledge. So finally she can stand on it rather than sit. She let go of the small noose and un-knotted it. She then tied and secured the rope around her waist. Grabbing the rope with her left hand, Rianne put her right leg horizontally against the wall and pulled the rope tight. "Okay! I got this!" Rianne bravely called out. Finding a small foot hole, she began scaling the cliff wall, slowly.
This is just like climbing a tree... A slippery and stony tree... It's fine. All is fine. Rianne mentally chanted as her hand interchangeably looked for small nooks for hand holds to grab on to later use as foot holds as she steadily climb. Rianne had to ignore the slight pain of the rope burns that were starting to form on her waist due to her movements. Finally, after a few minutes that felt like hours due to her body screaming exhaustion, Rianne made it to the top. Well sort of. Her left had grabbed the surface where the railings stood followed by her right hand.
See! We did it! Now I just need to pull myself up, without hitting my head on those railings...
Note - Since uh no swimwear in middle ages... might as well swim in night undergarments... Let's just assume Rianne's had a full body cloak thus it practically covers her improvised swimwear... Thus her current OOTD:

Hey! Mr. Auris! Are you alright up there?!
It took the trainee a little while before the words got through to him. From his current position, he turned his sight back to the railings, behind which was the wild water with Rianne still somewhere down there. Still among the waves.. Still in a risky position. It bothered him, but when Loki rushed back to the balustrade with a rope in his hands, Auris realised that she too would be back up here safely soon. While he watched the advisor tie the rope and toss it down, he took a deep breath and finally answered.
"I'm fine!" He replied. "All good!" Still recovering from the fear that had nearly overwhelmed him just moments ago, his voice did not yet sound completely stable -- but the slowly returning control was audible. Taking another deep breath, he grabbed one of the railings and used it as support when he pushed himself back to his feet; more than anything, holding onto something felt safe right now.
From there, the recruit simply proceeded to watch while Rianne attempted to climb back up. He couldn't exactly see much, for he insisted on keeping a fair distance from the water this time; but the strained rope and Loki's continued efforts to help the other trainee up were enough for him to more or less keep track of what was happening. And then, when finally two hands appeared on the surface, Auris cautiously debated whether he should approach the railings again to help. Eventually deciding he should, the trainee stepped forward again, albeit extremely careful to not lean over the balustrade even slightly.
He sighed once more. Well, there we go.. Seems this whole deal is almost over at last. He stated to himself, and smiled, although still nervously. Now just to get her back on this side.. Should he be required to lend a hand, he was prepared to do so, although his mind screamed at him at the thought of falling back over another time. He ultimately left the decision up to Loki however, to avoid getting in the way should the advisor already have a plan.

Loki felt the pull of the rope, a sign the Rianne is climbing up. He pulled the rope up gently to help the girl to quickly climb up to safety. He recalled and old memory Lucifer fell from cliff to the ocean but lucky that he just fell on another side cliff like Rianne had. Had to leave him and carry a crying and worried Kisara to call for help to get him up.
Loki chuckled as he remembered his twin's pale complexion as he got an earful from their mother for doing something dangerous and making Kisara cry with worry. A lesson we learned. Never pissed of mother. He thought to himself.
As soon as he saw Rianne's head at the bottom of the railings. Quickly tied the rope securely and reached out to help her up.

This wasn't the first time Rianne had been in any form of danger. Since as a child, she had been in danger numerous times, and by God's grace or Lady Luck, someone would always arrive just in time to save her. Thus the small feat of climbing up and saving herself from further danger boosted what small ego Rianne had. And it further cemented the fact that she wasn't as helpless as she thought she was without her brother.
Should I let go, and reach out? Rianne mused looking up to her mentor's outstretched hand. But what if I can't reach...? I'll just fall again... There must be another way. But this wasn't the time for Rianne's 'Just wait and see! I can do this myself!'-stubbornness to rear it's ugly head. A soldier mustn't only learn to be independent to avoid being a burden to his team, but also learn when to not let pride or stubbornness cloud one's judgement causing one to haphazardly slap away help that comes their way. Rianne would just make it more difficult for her, if she'd refuse to grab Loki's hand, fearing she'd fall trying to do so. And besides she trusts him enough to do damage control if something bad happens. He is her superior after all.
Ah whatever! Rianne mentally cried. If I'll fall, then I'll fall! I'll just have to climb up again! Pushing her fears aside and mustering her courage and strength she pushed herself up using her left arm. And albeit luckily grasped Loki's hand followed instinctively by her left. For someone like Rianne who likes swimming, she sure looked like a cat trying to avoid being given a bath.
