Setting:
Location: Dormitory (outside)
Side Quest: Ghost Within Grounds
Time: Late night after the events of Antar Public Bathhouse - A Steamy Gathering

The shadows of the night had already fallen over their surroundings -- but it hadn't stopped them.
In fact, Auris personally hadn't even noticed how late it had gotten. Neither had it occured to him that they should have been inside right now, nor that they would have to get up early tomorrow.
Way too busy experimenting with their newly acquired weapons, all the other things had moved to the background.

".. Well, that didn't do much." He disappointedly reflected on his latest attempt to get the orb to work. He had to try something else if he wanted results.
I wonder if anything will happen if I.. Carefully holding the weapon with both hands, he focused his mind and thought strongly about a flame. Just a little one, the size of that on a lit candle.
Auris had no idea if any of his attempts would eventually work, no idea whatever would be the right way to do it. Surely he had read a thing or two about magic weaponry, but without proper instructions, there was no way to guarantee whether these things applied to this specific weapon -- no less if the information was accurate at all, or even up to date.
Still no signs of fire anywhere, the trainee sighed. "Oh, come on.. It can't be that hard, can it?"
He had expected this to be easier, if even only a little. Of course, waiting for the training to begin would be the safer and more effective way, but it couldn't hurt to try something small by himself. When had he ever messed up on these kind of things?
.. Okay, wrong question. But he wasn't alone at least, so surely, nothing bad could happen. Right?

Still not seeing any fire, he pressed his lips together and racked his brain for knowledge, trying to recall more about what he had read in all of these days searching for information. There had to be a way to make this work..
Sighing another time, he took a brief glance at Philip. Earlier this evening, he had run into his fellow trainee just outside of the dormitory. After they had talked for a bit and learned that they both were involved with magic now, the decision to go and practice outside had been made quickly.

"Anything cool happened yet?" Auris asked curiously, quietly hoping for a positive answer.
Perhaps the other trainee had more luck.

Philip was getting used to his new schedule which was completely different from his life in the capital. Shortly after receiving his weapon he drew himself a timetable to follow each and every day in the Training Order.

That evening, as normal, Aventurra started his magical skills training (or practical application of magic as his notes read) while he was approached by Auris. Usually Philip did not long for company, but this time he decided it would be nice to combine their attempts at becoming proficient wizards.

At first, both of them focused at their own trials. It was not the first time he trained, but only that day Philip got to learn his first spell. It was nothing powerful and actually made a waste of energy - Aventurra finally succeeded at raising a tree leaf a few centimeters above the ground with the force of his wand, and dropped it in mere seconds. Still, it felt like the biggest triumph of his life.

Then, he heard his companion ask him a hopeful question. Thinking that the green haired recruit for sure achieved something great already, Philip decided it would be better to try and show off before him.

"Let me try your fire things" he said hurriedly and raised his wand aiming at the sky.

Not only was he exhausted after pushing the leaf up, but he also heard a loud bang somewhere near. He succeeded in using magic another time - he created a tiny flame, but due to being distracted made it fall on his new uniform. The end of his right sleeve started to burn.

Auris nodded once, and watched as Philip attempted to create the flame he himself was so far uncapable of making. He still didn't know why he failed so badly at this.. After all, he knew plenty of ways that should have chance to do the trick. Was he too impatient? He knew very well how magic relied on the mind, and perhaps his restless curiosity disabled him from channeling his thoughts into the orb sufficiently.
In which case, this could become a problem that would get in his way more than just once.

His eyes following the other recruit's wand as it was raised to the sky, Auris just barely saw anything of the result; as he was suddenly taken off guard when a loud, metallic bang sounded not too far away from them. Startled, the trainee froze in place and immediately looked in the general direction the sound had come from.
"..What was--?" Alerted, it took him a few long seconds to relax again. Where had that come from? The sound on its own hadn't so much seemed like a reason to worry, but his concerns had come with the sudden realisation that they weren't supposed to be out here at this time.
If anyone were to find them now, they'd be in trouble again. And if anything, Auris was convinced he'd had enough trouble for a day. For a week, even, or more. Either way, he didn't much care for getting on anyone's bad side again right now.

"Hey, um, Philip.." He whispered, not yet having looked back. "Do you think we should head back to th--"
And it was then he turned back and saw the fire.
Nicely created flames, but not where they were supposed to be. Not at all.
"Y-your sleeve!" The trainee suddenly exclaimed, entirely forgetting about the silence he was trying to keep a mere moment ago. "It's burning!! We have to-- Oh, drat.."

Still holding the glass orb in both hands, he wasn't able to do much lest it would fall and perhaps break. Looking around for a place he could safely put it, he saw none other than the ground, which was not even a remotely safe spot to leave it. Left no other choice, Auris carefully shifted the orb's weight to a single hand, so he could free the other. Just don't drop it.. Whatever you do! He told himself.
With his free hand, he then attempted to pat out the fire in a hurried fashion -- uncertain whether he was helping, or actually making it worse.

Immediately after Auris came to his help, Philip dropped the wand to the ground and started waving his hand around shouting at the other apprentice to put the fire out. The fire seemed impossible to extinguish, so Aventurra dropped to the ground, keeping his right hand under his body - pushed against the dirt. Still, it was when he focused all his remaining strength on ignoring the burning sensation when the flames disappeared.

He stood up and looked at his hand which was covered in white bubbles. He remembered a few herbs that could ease the pain, but what truly worried Philip was that his cuff turned into a black tatter. Finally, he picked up the wand and keeping it in his left hand walked in the direction where the sound had come from.

"Let's go, they'll for sure discover our little practice, so we could at least show how vigilant we are!" he exclaimed to Auris, walking as fast as his exhaustion allowed him to go.

Much to Auris' relief, Philip managed to kill the fire in time before it had a chance to spread further across his sleeve. The result didn't look too pretty, however, and although it was only limited; damage had been done. "Ouch! Are you okay?" Auris asked worriedly, but surprisingly enough the other recruit didn't seem to be very concerned about the burn on his hand. It didn't seem like something too serious, but it served well to remind Auris that they were training with real weapons here, and that they could definitely hurt when mistakes were made.

Not that it would ever stop him from trying, though.

He quickly agreed with Philip's statement: after all, there was no way that patrols weren't outside tonight, and it most definitely wouldn't be long until somebody might approach them. Voicing an agreement, he followed quickly after, alert for any signs of light, movement or sound.

Perhaps, it even occured to him, there was a chance they could even get back inside unseen if they chose not to investigate the sound.
They could sneak past and get back to their dormitory rooms without being caught outside this late. It would mean they would have to go stealthy about anything, and it meant that it would leave them no excuses were they to be found.
But if anything, it could spare them consequences.

Deciding to speak his mind, he suggested the idea in a low voice. He couldn't say he wasn't curious -- but he knew the generals already weren't too happy with him, and more trouble would be sure to make training unbearable for him.

Dianne was planning to investigate the source of that noise since she just finished her rounds. "If it's one of them trainees then they will have hell with the generals in tomorrows training once I report them." She locked the front door of the building so if there are some late trainees, they will just have to wait here outside until she finds out what is out there in the dormitory grounds.

She was about to turn around a corner when she collided with something or someone and landed on the well manicured grass of the grounds on her butt, hard. "Ahh"

Although Philip's pace wasn't any fast, he did not stop even when Auris tried to convince him to go back.

"Normally I would agree with you to sneak back to our rooms. But there is nothing more precious than knowledge, is there?" he asked leaving no room for discussion. "If you want to go back, I will tell everybody that I was alone here, though."

Aventurra almost forgot about his pain, thinking of what could have caused that loud sound. Sunk deep in his theories and hypothetical scenarios, he didn't notice Dianne coming from around the corner. They bumped right into each other. Dianne fell to the ground, while Philip jumped back with a loud groan of pain as his wounded hand was squeezed in the collision. If there was anybody who had not been woken up by the initial noises, they would for sure jump out of their beds now because of Philip's pitiful wailing.

Nothing more precious than knowledge.
Out of all ways to convince him, this was probably one of the more effective ones. One of the very reasons he had come here had after all been to gather knowledge. Truthfully, only about one specific subject, but knowledge was knowledge nonetheless.
Auris hesitated briefly for a few more seconds, but then decided Philip was right. He was very curious as well, anyway, and it surely couldn't hurt to spend a few more minutes out here.
".. Hm. Well, I suppose I'll stick around." He agreed quietly.

He proceeded to follow his fellow trainee -- until all of a sudden the other jumped back and groaned in pain. Immediately shooting back into alert, Auris quickly took a step backwards as well, after which he froze in place. Before anything else, he gave another look in Philip's direction to confirm whether he was alright anew.
..He should really have that wound treated soon,
Auris thought.
The trainee didn't dare speak, however, for he had heard another voice as well just now. He hadn't been able to see what Philip had bumped into, but now he was certain of it: somebody else was around that corner. The recruit could only hope that this was yet another trainee brave -- or stupid -- enough to be outside this late; but hopes aside, he feared the worst.
They had been caught.

Dang. Auris would normally have attempted to hide, but at this point he didn't want to leave everything to the already hurt Philip. After all, they had decided to practice outside together, and as such he considered it no more than decent to share the consequences.

He sighed softly. Carefully nearing the corner again, he peeked around it to confirm what he feared; and see what looked like a patrol having fallen over onto the ground.
Looking from her to Philip and back again, he took a deep breath and finally dared to speak up softly.

"I, uh.. We're sorry." Auris said apologetically, knowing this would be the point they'd get into trouble again. Well, so much for his hopes of getting away safely.
".. I hope you're alright." He then added after a brief pause, his words directed to the both of them.

Wow that is such a loud screech of pain there. Dianne thought, the poor trainee was hurt. But she shook her head clear now that she noticed that these two are late for curfew. She stood up and patted the dust out of her clothes.

Placing her hands on her hips and looked at the trainees with a glare. "What are you two doing out? It is passed curfew already. You two better have a good explanation or I am going to report this to the Generals."

After a moment, Philip managed to sit on the grass, shivering and feeling cold after the attack of pain.

"I should be okay" he whispered silently. "Do you know anything about the loud bang from earlier?"

Aventurra for sure looked pitiful with his hunched posture, burnt sleeve and wounded hand. Thus, the question could be understood as quite a challenge, taking into account the fact that it came from such a weak boy. Philip did not turn his eyes down when they met Dianne's sight. Still, he left any further explanations to Auris.

"We, uh.."
Auris doubted briefly before continuing his explanation. Of course, the most responsible thing would be to tell the truth; but going outside to practice, especially without supervision, at a time so late at night would surely get them in more trouble than it was worth. An idea occurred to him, and before he was able to give it a second thought, the words had already left his mouth.
"We were still awake when we both heard odd noises coming from outside." He fetched up. "We knew we had to stay inside, but the loud bang Philip just asked about -- we both heard it, and were worried about what it could have been. Thus we went outside to have a look."
He shot a quick glance at his fellow trainee, hoping the other would understand his motives for lying and see where he was trying to go with it.
"Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if more trainees did the same."

"The noise?" She echoed. "Ah the noise, well it is not normal since we don't have tanks around here to make those kind of noises." She explained but she shook her head as she realized is pass curfew for these two trainees.

"Enough of this," She exclaimed. "You two better get in to your rooms and as for the noises, let the general's handle it. I already send a messenger to them about this predicament we're having in the dorm grounds."

She shooed the two trainees to go inside the dorms. I'll be lenient this one time. But next time I won't be merciful.

Philip finally got over his pain and stood up. He listened to the explanations carefully and tried to decide whether it would be better to ask politely for the permission to stay or to oppose firmlier. Finally he decided to be himself and pursue logical arguments.

"You said it is already past curfew, didn't you? That means you would have to go back with us all the way to the rooms and unlock all the doors" he said full of confidence. "There is for sure no time for this if we want to investigate where the sounds come from."

Saying this, he looked at Auris to back him up. Then, he sheathed his wand and made ready to follow the patrol.

Aha, clever! Auris thought when he heard Philip's argument. Walking towards the doors and back again would surely cost the patrol valuable time; and meanwhile, whatever was out there would be able to get away safely.
Catching the look his fellow trainee gave him, the young recruit quickly nodded in agreement.

"Personally.. I think he's got a point." He said after a brief pause, pretending to have weighed the different options before speaking. "Plus, I'm pretty worried about its source, because -- as you confirmed just now -- it isn't normal. How about we check it first just quickly, and then head back?" He wasn't actually worried; more than anything, he was just curious, really. Now that he had already lied anyway though, he couldn't be bothered anymore.
"I don't think I'd be able to close my eyes with a mysterious.. thing lurking around in the shadows out here." He added on top of it.

Dianne has a vein popped on her forehead in irritation. "Maybe you didn't here me clearly." she said in an irritated tone. "I already send a messenger to the generals! They will handle this. While you two!" She pointed at the trouble makers in front of her.

"Go back to your rooms or I will report this the generals." She warned. "You won't like it to have your first training to be a loss of limbs. hmm?"

"As for that noise earlier. You don't need to investigate it since you two are already in trouble for being out past curfew!" She said to the two angrily. "Don't make me repeat myself."

Philip observed Dianne's body language carefully and noted her anger. However, having an intelligent partner in the little discussion convinced him that they can achieve anything. Aventurra decided to hunch and make a regretful face. Then, with an unspottable blink to the other mage-to-be, he started to create the story of this evening anew.

"We are really sorry, Madam. Please, do not be angry with us. We did not even intend to be outside that late. Actually, I've been staying in the grounds since the afternoon and as you can see my practice went quite wrong" he said with a sad sigh, showing his burnt hand to the patrol.

"Ironically, it's only thanks to the intruder, or whatever caused the noises, that Auris went outside to investigate and found me in need. So, please, at least spare him the consequences. He did nothing wrong. And yes, I would go back straight to my room, or to find some help with my hand, if only you could lend me the keys. I swear I've only got the one to my apartment..." he finished acting out perfectly a theatrical look of awe at Auris, who had just become his another hero.

It required him a short moment to understand where the new story was going, but as soon as Philip proceeded to explain, he got it and followed.
"Ah, yep-- I mean by how it looks, you can't say that wound is pretty.. Checking up on him was the least I could do." He stated, trying to back up his partner's words. "It actually requires treatment, but sadly I have nothing with me. However, since that.. whatever scary thing it may be is stalking about this place, we decided to stick together. I mean -- would you leave a wounded person alone with an unknown enemy watching from the shadows?"
Is it even an enemy at all? Perhaps something just fell over. Ohh, falling objects.. Scary.
Noticing his thoughts were near to making him chuckle, Auris quickly cut them short.
No funny stuff, right. Focus.

"Anyway, that's.. also why we would really prefer to have an image of what's out here. It's probably dangerous." He added in an apologetic tone. He knew right now they'd do best to just go back and try not to get in any more trouble, but at this point, trouble seemed imminent anyway. And quietly, his curiosity was still nagging him, telling him to think up of more ways to convince the patrol to have them stay outside a little longer.
"I apologise for the inconvenience this all just caused, and I understand that the generals are in a better position to check it out than we are; but if we wait too long, who knows where it'll go? As of now, it could even be approaching us, or for all I know it's about to enter the building!" He faked a look of despair as his amber eyes met Dianne's. "Just this one time, please.. Give us five more minutes. We must know what it is."

Dianne sighed in frustration. She mentally counted from twenty backwards. These boys are very persistent, She thought. But no matter. I will give them the five minutes they want then I will report them to the Generals for their indiscretions. She smirked darkly.

"Okay, boys." She said with a dark mischievous tone. "I will give you the five minutes you want but only five minutes." She held out a hand with all five fingers fanning out. "When five minutes are up, you go back to your rooms or no breakfast for a week."

Philip noticed Dianne's anger but he was too proud of his and Auris' act to care about it. They had five more minutes to check the sounds out.

"Go! Lead the way!" he exclaimed to his green-haired friend, sure that the man will be stronger.

Not waiting for the response, Aventurra decided to run at the direction the bang had come from. He could hardly breathe, but he was not going to rest without having his curiosity satisfied.

"And don't worry about the breakfasts! I'll give you my supper for getting you into such trouble" he assured Auris.

The skinny man was not even eating half of his portions, so the rest was perfect to save his relations with the other mage.

Amidst among the trees at the dorm grounds, a pissed off Kisara Alexandria stood tall with a sharp weapon gleaming at her opponent's direction. She is pissed, no! She is fuming mad at the man standing right in front of her. She woke up from her ordeal from what the twins did at the bath. And fortunately for her that she woke up before Loki left her room. She smirked darkly as she recall the older man’s expression when she asked him for a little spar at the dorm grounds, with weapons.

Currently she is not using her Rhaegal but an elemental weapon she had before she acquired her cursed weapon, a spear with it's head can be change into a trident with just a simple twist. She and Loki had been in combat for 10 minutes but it seems like longer than that. And the state of her attire was just a few slashed holes at her pants and sleeves but unlike the other guy, she snickered. Broke a tree and created a crater or two.

“So Loki,” She smiled darkly and gets into position, pointing her weapon at him. “Get ready for a world of pain.”

Then she went for the kill and sprint towards him. Executing a series of rapid strikes on towards her opponent. She smirked knowing it will be impossible for him to get away from her attack unscathed.
