Overview: Character Name: Auris Soliphir Name Pronunciation: Au-ris Soh-lih-phir Gender: Male Birthday: August 24 Age: 19 Origin: Sabi Reason for Application: He wishes to help fight the enemy, and perhaps one day take back his home. Meanwhile, he's also searching for someone capable of teaching him the arts of magic.
Character Creation: Height: 5'7" Hair Color: Lime green Eye Color: Amber Skin Color: Fair Facial Feature/s: None in particular. Hair Style: Between short and medium length, slightly wavy. Wears askew a thin headband that usually goes unseen behind his somewhat messy locks. Face Appearance: A pretty young looking face with round eyes. Body Build: Has a fairly small frame and no broad shoulders, which doesn't particularly make him look strong or athletic. His seemingly endless energy and stamina, however, more than compensate for this.

Character Profile: Personality: Auris is an energetic aspirer, never content with what he's capable of and always striving to do better. This causes him to have great respect for people of high reputation. On the other hand, he often mistakes his own dedication for competence or skill, and may repeatedly be a little stuck up about his accomplishments. Which, as a result, makes him easy to provoke or tease. Aside from this, he's usually friendly and sociable, and enjoys being around people. He's very lively, enthusiastic, and often tireless. Fashion Sense: Usually wears neutral robes, any black or white, combined with an otherwise green or brown outfit. Likes: Magic, nature, meeting people, literature. Dislikes: Extremely hot weather, swimming (or generally being in water), mosquitos, losing. Favorite Color: Blue Favorite Animal: Fox Hobbies: Reading, exploring, socialising, magic and all things related. Strengths: Dedicated and strong-willed, if Auris truly wants or needs to get something done, he will always find a way to do it -- regardless of the obstacles. His stamina and extensive amounts of energy allow him to continue strenuous physical exercises for a long time. Weaknesses: He's often easy to provoke, and once provoked, may become reckless in his actions. While he's often boastful and may talk big about his accomplishments, this also causes him to occasionally overestimate his own capabilities.
Character Backstory: An only child but with many a friend, Auris went through a happy and prosperous youth in Vetanom, long before the entirety of the village was dragged into the dark and despair of the demon outbreak. His parents, Edan and Elthrin, were bakers with a fair income, and had little to no things to worry about. When Auris wasn't helping around the bakery, he was outside, meeting new people and seeing new places. Always eager to find things nobody else had ever found before, he would join groups of friends to explore for hours at a time.
When he was no longer a child, Auris more actively tried to help his parents, ofting heading into the centre of town to energetically spread word about the bakery's work. This way, he got into contact with people not only his age, but quite literally anyone he encountered. And so it happened that one time, he found himself conversing with a young man named Roshe.
Roshe was a brown-haired merchant's son from Western Altrus, whose father had heard many tales and folklores during his travels. Roshe explained to him that a few had included the concept named magic, and that he himself had been interested and had later attempted to research the topic. Soon enough, Auris, too, found himself caught up in these stories, and more often than not decided to meet up with Roshe instead of helping the bakery. They quickly became great friends -- but after a few months, Roshe had to leave Vetanom again to return to the Western lands. He however invited Auris to come along for a few months if he wanted to, so he could hear the stories first-hand, or perhaps even cooperate in his research. After discussing with his own parents, Auris gladly accepted.
The travels eventually took him to Sabi, a fairly central village where Roshe's father decided to settle every now and then to exchange goods and resources with its sharing people. It was here that Auris and Roshe found themselves with enough time and space to do as they pleased. Together they spent hours, days asking people, finding books, trying things by themselves, and more. Auris soon became devoted to this new goal, and it wasn't long until he wished to know and find every little thing about magic.
And so it continued -- until reality suddenly pulled him out of his dream, and word reached his ear about the sudden outbreak of demons in the east. Having entirely forgotten about the 'few months' he was supposed to be away from home, months had turned into almost a year, and he hadn't sent any word to his parents at all. Suddenly, he wanted to return to Vetanom: to see his parents, to check if they were okay. But he soon found out that the attacks had already been going on for a while, and he had just been so extremely busy that he hadn't yet caught wind of it.
Vetanom was already beyond recovery.
Feeling as if it were his own fault, Auris unrationally kept telling himself he could've prevented it if he had but stayed with his parents. Right now, he didn't even know whether they were still alive or not. But going back now was of no use. All he'd see would be death and destruction.
There was no saving his family anymore. No saving his hometown. It just wasn't possible. But the demons were still out there, they were still razing other cities, killing more people, seperating more families. He felt like he had allowed to demons to take away his home by constantly being busy in Sabi, by constantly being focused on magic -- by everything he had neglected it for. He was going to find someone who could properly teach him, someone who could turn his assumptions and guesses into knowledge. That very same magic was going to help him prevent the same thing from happening to other people.
He would no longer be doing his own thing while the world around him fell to the demons. Now, it would be time for him to start fighting back. And then perhaps, one day, he would be able to take back what the enemy had stolen in his absence: home.
Relationships: Elthrin Soliphir -- Mother Edan Soliphir -- Father Roshe Liathan -- Best friend, companion, research partner Thorau Liathan -- Roshe's father, merchant whom he travelled with
Character Abilities: Weapon: Orb (Fire Element)
Skills:
Flare - A sudden burst of flame shoots forward in any intended direction, crossing a large distance within moments. The attack itself is fairly weak, but reduces fire resistance of anything it comes into contact with. Additionally, the skill serves as an excellent distraction, possible intimidation, or call for help.
Meltdown - The caster will center and hold a searing heat around one particular enemy, increasing their body temperature. If done correctly, the target might succesfully be overheated, and may be inflicted one or multiple effects of heatstroke[1]. If a target is wearing metal armor, the attack is significantly more effective.
Corona - Across a horizontal ring of 30 yards, with the caster safely at its center, the air explosively combusts into a scorching fire. Anyone caught within the searing flames will be dealt massive damage -- however, as the attack nears the end of its duration, the caster inevitably loses control and the fire vortexes inwards. Unable to escape, they will then be caught in the flames themselves, and end up heavily to critically wounded.
Sample Script: "Heh.. So now it's you and me, eh, Antar?" Auris folded his arms as he eyed his surroundings, his lips twitching into a small smirk. The island looked exactly as he had imagined -- only bigger, more impressive. Judging just by the looks of the training grounds, he wouldn't mind spending vast amounts of time here in the near future.
He knew it was only a matter of minutes now until he would be speaking to the three big names of Antar -- a matter of days or even hours until he would be settled around the place. He looked forward to it, and oddly enough, wasn't even all that nervous. He was excited, of course, but he was confident that things would work out. He knew what he was doing this for; and more than anything, he couldn't wait until he'd be able to see results.
One last time, he looked at the port behind him. He thought of home, of his family, his companion; of the people he'd met and the places he'd seen. From now on, it would be just him. Him, his fellow trainees, and whatever the instructors had in store for them. There would be no going places by choice.
He took a deep breath and faced forward again -- by chance spotting three familiar figures in the far distance. They were the people he needed. The first and last he'd talk to on this island.
The smirk returned to Auris' face as he adjusted the cloak at his neck, readying himself to go. It was about time he'd say hello.. About time to introduce himself; and start this next, interesting chapter of his life.
